Polycan® is a water-soluble active compound fermented from a novel strain of black yeast (Aureobasidium pullalans). The unique composition of multiple polysaccharides, including β-1,3/1,6-glucan, has been clinically shown to support a healthy immune system, a healthy bone environment and improved mobility. Due to the potent efficacy of the ingredient, only a small daily dose of 150mg is necessary to provide signi¬ficant health benefits.
In regard to bone health, Polycan® is the only ingredient in the nutraceutical space specifically targeting a healthy balance between key biomarkers in bone health; osteoblasts (for bone formation) and osteoclasts (for bone resorption). This balance is increasingly difficult to maintain as humans age and bone density naturally declines. The published Polycan® studies provide compelling evidence that supplementing with just 150mg daily will significantly increase the output of osteoblasts while decreasing the output of osteoclasts.
In regard to immune health, compelling results from a human study published in 2018 yielded statistically significant end points. It was found that supplementing with just 150mg of β-glucan rich Polycan® daily significantly reduced the duration of cold and flu symptoms versus placebo.
In regard to joint health, a 2019 published double blind placebo controlled 60-person study found that just a 50mg dose of Polycan® in combination with 1500mg glucosamine was more than 50% as effective as glucosamine alone.
As humans continue to live longer, better mobility, a stronger immune system and healthier bones are key to a happy life. Polycan® should be a primary ingredient within the portfolio of all nutraceutical brands.
